EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A groundbreaking has been scheduled for the Hyatt Place hotel in Downtown Evansville for Friday.
It will be at 9 a.m. Friday at the construction site, Southeast Second and Chestnut streets.
The more than $18 million, privately financed development will have 139 guest rooms. Amenities will include a bar and lounge, an indoor pool and fitness center, free breakfast and free Wi-Fi.
The development includes new parking, public spaces and meeting rooms.
The developer is Kinship Hospitality LLC, founded locally in 2016. It is a division of Hallmark Hospitality and Management. Kinship Hospitality owns and operates five hotels and is developing an additional five properties.
The company’s portfolio includes Hampton Inn & Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, Home2 Suites, Days Inn and Quality Inn. The Hyatt Place Downtown Evansville is the company’s first Evansville hotel.
The Hyatt Place project has experienced delays stemming from underground utilities issues and winter weather.
The hotel will take 12-15 months to build, according to the developer.
